Fund Drive Information

Last year, your donations, along with several local, state and federal grants, allowed us to make several important purchases. We combined two vehicles, a 1967 Brush Truck and a 1985 Special Unit, into a new single vehicle designated as Special Unit 27. It has new wildland firefighting and EMS equipment allowing it to better perform the jobs of two aging vehicles. Also, we were able to purchase two Thermal Imaging Cameras that give us the ability to "see" through smoke and find / rescue victims faster in a burning building. We were also able to purchase several new sets of turnout gear for our growing number of members. In the last year alone we have had a dozen new members join as active firefighters. Finally, we replaced the aging supply hose on Engine 27-1 with new Large Diameter Hose, giving us the ability to have a greater water supply and lay less hose on the ground.

This year, our budget totals approximately $200,000 which includes necessary renovations to our building, utilities, maintenance of equipment and apparatus, payment of a bank note on Truck 27, and our 5 part-time employees. Currently, we are in the beginning stages of replacing Engine 27-2, a 1979 Ford-Emergency One Pumper. In order to accomplish this goal in a timely manner, we must increase our budget to make this approximately $250,000 purchase feasible. To help balance our budget, we receive approximately $42,000 from the County Commissioners and a share of the money distributed by the Gaming Commission of Washington County. The rest must be made up in fundraisers and donations from YOU, the members of our community.

As you can see, your donations are vital to our survival in this community. Without you, we would be unable to serve and protect our own friends and neighbors. For us to continue going above and beyond the call of duty, we need your support. Thank you.
