On Saturday November 15, Special Unit 27 was alerted to assist HFD Engine 3 with a fast moving corn field fire.  SU27 and five Longmeadow firefighters entered the field and were able to get ahead of the fire.  The fire was contained and extinguished using a booster line and 1" forestry line.  Company 27 fire police also handled traffic control.

At approximately 2111 hours, Company's 27, 13 and 9 were alerted for a garage fire on Reidtown Road.  Chief 27 arrived first on the scene and confirmed a 3 car garage well off.  Due to heavy winds, being in a rural area and several exposures, Chief 27 requested 3 additional tankers to respond.  The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.  Units remained on scene for overhaul.
