June 24, 2003

At 1118 hours, units from Longmeadow were alerted to assist on a farm accident on Millers Church Road.  Engine 27-2 responded for a male who had gotten his right hand stuck inside a hay-bailer.  Upon arrival, Deputy Chief 9 directed Longmeadow's crew to set up landing zone for MSP Trooper 8.  The patient was packaged by Smithsburg EMS and airlifted to The Curtis National Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.  Units cleared the scene at 1208.

June 10, 2003

At 1721 hours, units from Longmeadow were alerted for a water rescue behind 200 Creek Road.  Units arrived to find 2 victims in the Antietam Creek below a dam.  Both victims were caught in the hydraulic.  Rescue Squad 75 floated Personal Flotation Devices (PFD's) and tag lines to the victims while a rescue operation was set up.  Squad 75 set up above the dam while Special Operations and Longmeadow set up below the dam.  A swimmer from Special Operations entered the water with two back-up swimmers on shore.  The swimmer reached the victims and assisted them to safety.  Both victims refused treatment.  Units cleared by 1816 hours.

June 4, 2003

Beginning just after midnight, units from Longmeadow were alerted for multiple emergency flooding conditions.  Within 12 hours, Longmeadow was alerted for, and responded to 10 emergency flooding situations.

June 3, 2003

At 1111 hours, units from Longmeadow were alerted for a PIA on Jefferson Blvd.  Initial reports were for a vehicle on its side off the roadway.  Units arrived to find the same.  All passengers were out of the vehicle upon arrival and refused emergency medical care.  Crews worked to remove the vehicle and control traffic.  Units cleared at 1206 hours.

June 2, 2003

At 1428 hours, units from Longmeadow and Maugansville were alerted for a PIA on Pennsylvania Ave.  Units arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident.  A third vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene before arrival.  All patients involved refused treatment and transport to Washington County Hospital.  Crews worked to clean up debris and control traffic.  Incident was turned over to Maryland State Police and units cleared at 1445 hours.
