Mack Truck Wreck

At about 1500hrs on Memorial Day, several Washington County Companies were running a pair of fire boxes.  Meanwhile, Station 27 had several crews in-station (not sure if FRC knew that or not).  Longmeadow finally caught a call when the assignment was dispatched for the PIA on Mack Truck Property.  Rescue Engine 27-2, Captain 27(Latimer) and Special Unit 27 responded immediately with 10 firefighters, while a crew of 5 stayed back.  Crews found a minor accident and assisted CRS 75-9 with one transport.

Dual Membership...

This picture was recently brought to our attention.  That's Longmeadow Chief Scott Ricker running a call in Leitersburg, wearing Co. 9 gear.  Apparently Chief Ricker is following in the footsteps of his old pal, a former Chief 27, by holding dual membership at 9 and 27.  You're already on your way to a successful Chief-dom.

Gas Line Rupture

On Thursday afternoon, Longmeadow was dispatched for a gas line rupture in Fountainhead North.  Engine 27-1, Special Unit 27 and LT 27 (MA Byard) responded with 5 firefighters.  Firefighters found a line struck by a back-hoe and actively leaking.  No life hazards were involved so Longmeadow stood by until turning the scene over to Columbia Gas.

Meadow Members Marry

On Saturday, May 20th, two Longmeadow firefighters were joined in marriage.  Sergeant Chris Turner and Firefighter Anna Eckstine finally tied the knot at the Welty Church of the Brethren in Ringold, MD.   The couple then welcomed their guest at a reception at the Venice Inn in Hagerstown.  The firefighters and guests danced the night away to the music of The Knights of the Turntable.  The happy couple are spending a week on a cruise for their honeymoon.  Word is that the happy couple are excited to start a family and staff more Longmeadow rigs.

Catching Up the Last Month...

Although the web site hasn't reflected it lately, much has been going on around The Meadow.  Here's an overview of some of the action:

Burger Bite-

On April 25th, Jason (Burger) and Lucy Eckstine welcomed a baby girl to their family and to ours.  Zoe Jean Eckstine was born at 12:53pm, 6lbs, 11.5 oz and 21 inches long.  This was definitely the biggest and best news in the past month.

Fires:

During the past 30 days, we've assisted Franklin County Co. 3 (Greencastle) with a building fire at the RSVP "Massage Parlor" on April 28th and Franklin County Co. 2 with a 2 alarm house fire on May 12th.

Other-

Because the burn ban was lifted, the open burning complaints have ceased.  However, the medic assists and Automatic Fire Alarms continue.  We did manage another odd transfer, this time to Co. 6 (Boonsboro) while they were committed on a large house fire in Company 11's first due (Potomac Valley) on April 23rd.
