On Friday April 22nd 2005, Longmeadow participated in the Washington County Regional Airport's disaster drill.  Rescue Engine 27-2 responded to the mock airplane crash with 5 firefighters under the direction of Lieutenant Hopkins.  The firefighters assisted with triage and patient care during the drill.

It is with great sadness that the Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Francis Markle.  "Mean Gene" Markle was a charter member, serving Longmeadow and our mutual aid companies for well over 30 years.  Gene served in many capacities including a fire line officer, a board member and the head of our fire police until the time of his death.

A Viewing will be held at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd, Hagerstown, Maryland on Sunday April 17th 2005 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 9:00 PM. 

A Funeral Service and Memorial Procession will be at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd, Hagerstown, Maryland on Monday April 18th 2005 at 1:30 PM.

The Officers and Members of the Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Company would like to invite our neighbors to remember Gene Markle by participating in his Memorial Procession on Monday April 18th 2005.

 

02 April 2005

At 1022 hours, units from Longmeadow were dispatched for a PIA at the intersection of Longmeadow Road and Marsh Pike.  Lieutenant 27 arrived immediately after dispatch and found a "T-Bone" accident in the intersection with occupants still in one of the vehicles.  Longmeadow Road Command was established and FRC assigned units responding and operating on the scene to TAC3.  One occupant was confined and extricated from the vehicle in 12 minutes.  Crews from Company 27 assisted Rescue Squad 13 with the extrication and assisted Medic 75-9 with patient care.  Units cleared the scene around 1130 hours.
