At approximately 1900 hours, Engine 27-1 was
special responded to assist Franklin County Company 3, Greencastle, with
a working barn fire. Heavy smoke could be seen by incoming units
from miles away. Engine 27-1 was used as a tanker and shuttled
several loads of water while crews assisted with extinguishment of the
blaze.

At 1212, units from Longmeadow were dispatched to
assist Franklin County Company 3, Greencastle, with a field fire on
Hollowell Church Road. Units arrived to find approximately three
acres burning and fire moving fast in several directions. Company
27 personnel assisted with extinguishment of fire and cutting down
several trees. This was the first fire for the new Special Unit 27
and it preformed magnificently.

At 1343, units from Longmeadow were alerted for a
personal injury accident in the 14200 block of Marsh Pike. Units
arrived to find a two vehicle accident with one vehicle still in
roadway. One priority two patient was extricated with assistance
of Company 13. Crews assisted with extrication, patient care and
contained all hazards. Units cleared at 1446

At 1537, units from Longmeadow were alerted for a
garbage truck on fire at the intersection of Marsh Pike and Cresap
Drive. Units arrived to find a fire between the cab and the trash
box. Fire was extinguished and crews checked for extension.
Nothing evident. Units cleared at 1553.

At 2338, Engine 27-1 was alerted to assist on a
barn fire on Buchanan Trail West in Mercersburg. The engine crew
assisted with tower operations while the engine itself shuttled nine
loads of water. Engine 27-1 cleared the scene at 0454.
